With all the problems surrounding Vista, it’s been suggested that Vista could actually be more along the lines of beta software than the final version. Microsoft spent five years developing Vista but half of that was spent with Longhorn which was trashed about half way through and Vista was built, at least partially, from the ground up.

Joy of joys. Let’s combine some old code with brand new code, surely, that won’t backfire. There are some readers out there that think this site is geared towards negative Vista news and that we overlook positive news. If I said this wasn’t the case I would be called a liar, you want the truth? Are you ready? Sitting down? Good. The truth is that there isn’t any positive Vista news.

Steve Ballmer called Windows Vista, “a work in progress,” business users don’t like it with only an 8% of corporate satisfaction rate and many are perfectly happy just sticking with XP. This is echoed in the home consumer market where upgrading existing systems could be called problematic at best and should only be done by those who actually know how to build computers from the ground up. Those buying computers with Vista should be fine just so long as all the peripherals being used with it are Vista compatible or there will be problems, the same goes for software.

The UAC issues have been discussed at length before so there is no need for a repeat. Just partially turn it off and use Tweak UAC, that’s the short answer.

With Windows 7 just around the corner, rumored to be available in late 2009 or early 2010, one has to wonder if Windows Vista was just a stepping stone towards Windows 7. Was Windows Vista as to Windows 7 as Windows ME was to Windows XP?
